Project #21 Cardboard Animals

There are a lot of examples and directions for cardboard animals on the internet.  I do not think you can improve on the simplicity and beauty of the designs and ideas by Anna Walker (instagram account _annawalker_), Jody Levine and Small Hands Big Art Collective.

Jodi Levine's wonderful stand up, multipart animals are great ideas for kit gifts which she shows you how to do in her blog.

The other beauty of these projects is that the materials are readily available: cardboard boxes, twigs, paint, holiday decor items, pipe cleaners, bits of string and yarn and Elmer's Glue All.

Creating the shapes are great for observation skills and critical thinking practice for young artists as well as  for practicing fine motor skills.

The cardboard reindeer are from Small Hands Big Art Collective Blog.  You could translate this idea into any kind of animal portrait.
