Project #30 Helen Booth, Polka Dot Landscapes

Acceptance, Oil on canvas, 2022

Welsh artist Helen Booth spend time at an aritst residency on Skaftafell Glacier in Iceland. The experience profoundly influenced her paintings.  Living in below freezing temperatures in a raw landscape and working with graphite, liquid ink, basalt and canvas encouraged her to use basic marks in her paintings. When she returned home, her paintings reflected the experience in Iceland, painting mostly but not always with variations of white.

If you look closely, you will see that Booth's paintings have multiple layers, sometimes 3 or 4.  Try counting and describing the layers in her paintings.
