Project #36 Geometric Paintings
There are many styles of geometric paintings and many artists who make them. The artworks range from the clean-edged paintings with saturated colors of Hans Jørgen Hvid to the very loose painterly, drippy and scribbly paintings of Stanley Whitney to the even looser drippy and ephemeral paintings of Joan Mitchell and everything in between.

Below are some examples of geometric paintings of different styles and made with a variety of materials. Some of these are not traditional paintings but made with thread, paper and fabric. I included these works because they are painterly.
What geometric shapes do you see in them? Squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, half and quarter circles, trapezoids, kites or diamonds, parallelagrams, rhomboids? There are a lot of interesting geometric shapes and a lot of ways to create them.
What kind of painting will you make? With what materials? Will yours be colorful or tonal? Or both? What will the surface be like?
