Drawing Workshop May 2018

I have been getting ready for the drawing workshop Saturday, May 19th.  I will be demoing a variety of techniques and materials including carbon pencils and gel pens.  The participants will have several surfaces to work on and experiment with from claybord to Yupo to beautifully smooth papers.

The above drawing is a carbon ink transfer that has been almost completely obliterated by colored pencil, gel medium and graphite.  The image was a photograph taken in north Louisiana near Mer Rouge.  It is an old barn or stable that I used to drive past.  I preferred the way that it looked in winter with the bare branches and vines growing through the building.

If you are interested in the body of work that this drawing is from you can read more about the photographs, drawings and paintings in curator Celeste Wackenhut's essay "Lisa Qualls and the Impact of Place".
